Ouno partnership offers exquisite handmade designs from reclaimed materials:

We urge you to explore Vancouver based atelier Ouno (pronounced “OO-no”), a studio dedicated to explorations with vintage, rare, and reclaimed second-hand materials. The brainchild of artisans Sarah Gee and Linsay Brown, Ouno takes a second look at that which has been forgotten or discarded, breathing new life into all that surrounds us.

Ouno Asterisk Pillow

We like ‘wabi sabi’ – a Japanese term denoting simplicity, natural imperfection and the beauty of happenstance. We think simplicity shouldn’t exclude fantasy, tactility and imagination. These qualities are too easily omitted in modern design and interiors.

Ouno deconstructs discarded fur coats and luxury garments and creates one-of-a-kind and limited-edition decor accessories – bags and fashion accessories for men and women, pillows, bedding, throws & blankets, floor cushions, rugs and wall hangings, sculptural objects and conversation pieces.

Modern Fabrics strives to present artisans and craftsman who reclaim and re-purpose materials which already surround us- a more neutral way of creating and making. One’s garbage is another’s raw material and inspiration! We will continue to feature these creative endeavors on Modern Fabrics Blog.
