KnollTextiles: The Designer’s Vision

Knoll Textiles Retrospective: Bard

The Bard Graduate Center hosted an exhibition examining the history of KnollTextiles and presenting new designs by Proenza Schouler for Knoll Luxe at the 2008 International Art and Design Fair in New York City.

Organized by the independent curator Mary Schoeser, KnollTextiles: The Designer’s Vision offers a brief history of the influence of fashion design on KnollTextiles upholstery fabrics. It also presents new work by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler and Dorothy Cosonas for Knoll Luxe, which was launched Spring 2008.

This exhibition is a precursor to a broader retrospective planned to open Spring 2010. Check out the video below featuring KnollTextile’s creative director and visionary Dorothy Cosonas and curator Mary Schoeser.

An accompanying catalogue features an essay, “Knoll: Furnishing Textiles in the Clothing context,” by Schoeser.
