ABOUT VERNER PANTON
Verner Panton (1926-1998, Denmark) is among Denmark's most celebrated postwar industrial designers. Believing designers should employ the most advanced technology available, plastic was his preferred medium for his innovative and experimental designs. Panton studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (Copenhagen) and, after graduating in 1951, worked with fellow Danish architect and furniture designer Arne Jacobsen. In the mid 1950s, Panton established his own office and began designing whole interior spaces, from textiles to lighting, utilizing his signature futuristic and graphic aesthetic, which was widely influential during the op art movement.
