Ikat patterns are distinguished by their organic look. Ikat dyeing techniques originated in Indonesia and were always died by hand using some of the most ancient textile dying and design techniques. Traditionally ikat was used for apparel, and wall hangings but over time the textile industry adopted the beautiful designs into home textiles.
