Plain & Solid Color Upholstery Fabric
Solid color fabrics are the foundation of good home interior design. It is best to always use plain, solid upholstery fabrics to reupholster the largest furniture pieces in your space, like couches, sofas, loveseats, or chairs. Solid fabrics will give you a great base for introducing fun patterns and colors on smaller furniture, pillows, or drapes.
When you reupholster with solid fabrics you are giving your space the foundation for what comes next, for example, use solid blue upholstery fabric for your living room couch, then use fun patterns that incorporate blue in them but also introduce other colors into the mix like greens, yellows, and grays.
Solid doesn’t mean boring, plain solid color fabrics come in wonderful textures. They can be made of mid-century modern solid wool, soft chenille, super durable performance fabric, or try indoor-outdoor quality textiles.
Unless you are a seasoned interior designer, always start with neutral solid fabrics, they will last you through many decorative changes as your life and home decor ideas change. A neutral gray, cream, brown, or taupe solid-color fabric will almost always match any room decor now or in the future.
